It's really time for all of us raters to give more accurate ratings. We tend to give everything a 4 or 5 star rating. This place is good, not excellent, but is very popular. Even though I'm giving it 3 stars, I still recommend it. It's good diner level food.

First time here, definitely will be back. Very affordable, HUGE portions, delicious food. I had chicken fried steak, sweet potato fries, and fried green beans. My bestie did chicken fried chicken, mashed potatoes and regular green beans. We both brought half our dinners home as we were stuffed. One meal is definitely enough to feed and fill 2 adult people. Excellent service and food came in less than 10 min and the place was busy.

I highly recommend not going to Sidewalk Cafe in Denton. I ordered 2 dozen tamales for Christmas, one chicken and one pork. I had seen on the website that tamales are $14 a dozen. (It still says $14) they know the website isn’t right and that they can’t get into it to fix it. I suggested they take it down and make a new website because that is bait and switch and I think it is illegal. They told me that the tamales had gone up and the website was wrong. Tamales are now $26 a dozen! I had promised the pork ones to someone in Florida where we were headed for Christmas so I went ahead took the 2 dozen. They brought out two foil wrapped packages, I paid and left. I put the chicken one in the freezer for us later. We recently ate them and when I opened them up there were only 6 tamales. I called Florida and there had only been 6 in their package, too! So, $52 for 12 tamales! I called the store and talked to the manager and she called the owner and he said since it had been so long he didn’t feel right about making it good with me. Who knew you had to eat frozen tamales in a certain time limit???

First time at Sidewalk Cafe. I wish I had taken pictures. My wife and I both got the Chicken Fried Chicken. Probably the best that I have ever had. Fried okra was also very good. Generous portions and good prices. Service was excellent. We will definitely be coming back the next time we are in Denton. Added a photo from my second visit. Still 5 stars

It was my dad’s birthday and I told him to pick a place that he wanted to go and have some brunch. He said I haven’t been to this place in a while, but I’ve been wanting to go back, so we did. We were greeted with a friendly face, and there was no wait for a table, so we were immediately sat. This is such a cute little homestyle, looking restaurant with pies and desserts that look so delicious! They also had a sign stating that they sell tamales. Which is a good thing to know when you’re just craving some. The place was busy for a mid morning in the middle of the week, including a group of elderly ladies wearing their festive hats and enjoying their girl time! The food came out pretty quickly, and everyone walked out with full bellies and smiles on their faces! There was nothing to complain about here. Our waitress even brought out a slice of delicious lemon pie to celebrate my dad’s birthday. And let me tell you, if you are a person of faith and want to be around someone of the same, you need to ask for Angelina! That girl is bold and courageous about her faith and I absolutely love it! She made the experience of a birthday even more fun! She snapped our family photo stating tha
